Preparation for disassembly
First, decide on a location for the machine’s disassembly. Enough room should be available for you to complete the task at hand and to arrange the machine’s disassembled components with care. We still have to reassemble it, after all.
It would be ideal to record each step of the machine’s disassembly in writing. Subsequently, the opposite procedure will be simpler and error-free.
- A set of different screwdrivers. A pair of Phillips screwdrivers of different lengths. A flat-head screwdriver. You will need it to pry up various clamps and fasteners. A screwdriver with a set of bits – hexagons and stars.
- A hammer. You will need it if you need to replace the bearings.
- Pliers.
- A set of keys.
- A block of wood.
We proceed directly to disassembling the Indesit washing machine
To remove the back cover, unscrew multiple screws. We can see the washing machine’s pulley, which is belted to the motor drive. We take off and set aside the belt. The pulley can be taken out right away or later (after removing the tank).
Let’s take it out immediately. This is a more convenient method. We use a wooden block to tighten the pulley. You will need a strong screwdriver fitted with the right bit to loosen the bolt that holds the pulley in place because it has a star configuration. We take decisive but cautious action. After you move the bolt, it will unscrew with ease. We take out and set aside the pulley.
Ascend.
Take off the top cover. To pull it back, you must loosen a few screws on the back. Back, not up. If not, the plastic clips may break. The balancing weight is visible at the top. It has a stone-like appearance and is fastened with nuts. Using a key with the appropriate head size—typically ten—unscrew the fasteners. Now take out the actual weight.
The Indesit washing machine’s front panel needs to be removed next. Remove the powder and conditioner tray before proceeding. It needs to be lifted just a little bit, pulled out of the grooves, and brought to a stop. The panel mounting screws become accessible. Remove them with a Phillips screwdriver.
Take off the front panel. You have two options when disassembling the Indesit washing machine: either disconnect the panel entirely or leave it hanging on the wires. However, you must keep in mind or record the connections between the contacts.
It is now appropriate to take out the powder dispenser. It is fairly large in Indesits, extending from the front wall to the rear filler valve. Unplug the cables (remember to label the connection with the wire’s color). Take out the screw on the back panel near the water inlet.
Take off the rubber hose attachment from the dispenser. This hose’s rubber loop needs to be hooked and taken off. Take out the dispenser (or powder container, if preferred).
Take out the water level sensor.
It is not hard to locate. This is a spherical object with wires attached to its body. It will make it more difficult to remove the tank and drum together. Cut the cables off. A clamp secures the sensor to the body.
Using a flat screwdriver, slightly pull it and press the latch. Disconnect the supplied hose from below using pliers. The power filter can be taken out as well. It is attached to the washing machine’s power cord. Now let’s proceed.
The rubber cuff that is positioned between the washing machine’s tank and hatch needs to be removed. It’s secured with a spring clamp. With caution, pull back and remove the spring. It is now possible to remove the cuff from the body.
At the base of the washing machine Indesite, the following adjustments will be made.
The back cover is already open, revealing the outer portion of the heater—to which the wires are connected—at the bottom of the tank. Cut the connections between the engine and the heater. It is imperative that you immediately detach the ligament containing the wires from the tank body.
After removing the tank, you have the option to remove the heating element immediately. Remove the fasteners situated in the space between the contacts and gently tug. We employ swaying motions.
We take the drainage system apart. Lift the cover concealing the drain filter. After removing the two screws holding it to the body, we pushed it inward. You can now set the washing machine aside. Take out the pipe that joins the drain pump and filter.
Water will flow out of the pipe in this scenario. It is worthwhile to prepare ahead of time and have the means to gather it. Pliers are used to remove the pipe. All you have to do is unfasten the clamps. The pump is then taken out. To remove the wires, you must unscrew the screws holding it in place. The pump is also easily disassemblyable if needed.
The washing machine’s bottom shock absorber mounts need to be unscrewed. Make sure everything is free from connections to the body in the tank.
Raise the machine to its standard setting. Remember that the washing machine’s hatch needs to be open. The tank is now just hanging there thanks to the springs. Grasp them and extract the tank, motor, and front weight all at once.
Keep the engine and tank apart. Using a flat-head screwdriver, carefully pry the motor off the tank after unscrewing a couple of ten-point bolts.
Screws are used to fasten the concrete balancing weight in an asterisk pattern. Use the proper tool to remove.
Take out the shock absorbers and the pipe from the washing machine tank’s "body." Shock absorbers are secured with plastic pins, while the pipe is fastened with clamps.
As a result, we are left with a tank that has a drum installed in it and an empty machine body.
How to remove the drum from the tank
The welded, non-separable tank of Indesit washing machines is one of their distinguishing features. When a bearing needs to be replaced, what should you do? Services advise replacing the entire tank and drum at the same time. However, the price of this kind of service is insane. This approach is not ours.
There’s a way out. A metal hacksaw is used to simply cut the tank at the soldering point, which solves the problem.
One half is empty, and the other has a drum inside. Carefully pry the drum out of the bearings in the tank body using a hammer and a bolt (the proper size and thread). New bearings are inserted in place of the defective ones.
Disassembling the Indesit washing machine is the end of the task. You can also take the hatch door off of its hinges and disassemble it for a completely finished look. Every assembly that comes after is done so in the opposite order.
It is very easy to restore the integrity and tightness of the tank. The halves have holes drilled in them. A silicone sealant coating is applied to the joints. Bolts hold the entire structure together.
All of the aforementioned tasks are independent. Furthermore, there won’t be any extra charges for using service experts on the project.
