How to remove the door of the washing machine?

It might occasionally be necessary for you to take out your washing machine’s door. This might be because you want to give it a deeper cleaning, or it could be the result of a broken hinge or damaged seal. For whatever reason, being able to remove the door safely and simply can be a useful skill. You can avoid the inconvenience of contacting a technician and having to wait for repairs.

Make sure you have the required tools on hand before you begin. Usually, all you’ll need to complete the task is a screwdriver. For safety reasons, it’s also crucial to unplug the washing machine from the power source. It’s best to exercise caution when handling electrical appliances that are still plugged in because doing so can be dangerous.

Even though it might seem difficult, removing the door is usually simple if you follow the right instructions. The majority of washing machine doors are made to be easily detached, making it simple to remove them. You will be able to remove the door and perform any necessary maintenance or cleaning by carefully adhering to a few easy steps.

Although it may seem difficult, you can remove a washing machine’s door with the correct tools and a few easy steps. To ensure safety, it’s crucial to unplug the washing machine first. Next, find the door’s hinges, which are typically located on the side of the door frame, and unscrew them. Once the screws are removed, carefully lift the door away, being careful to keep track of all the small parts. It’s simple enough for anyone to do at home because it doesn’t require any specialized knowledge and is straightforward.

Removing the element from the body

It is very inconvenient and troublesome to repair the door while it is hanging. It is preferable to remove the hatch and hinges from the body without adding more complexity to the task. This is accomplished easily:

  • remove the outer clamp on the hatch cuff;
  • tuck the seal inside the drum (it is not recommended to remove the rubber completely, since returning it to its place is difficult and time-consuming);
  • find one retaining bolt near each door hinge;
  • take a key suitable for the number 8 head.
  • unscrew the bolts completely.

Recognize that the door will not be taken out right away. Apart from the bolts that have been removed, it is also secured with unique hook-holders. It is necessary to gently raise the loops 4-5 mm up and then pull on yourself in order to release the hatch from them. The door should slide out of the grooves with ease if everything is done correctly.

When taking the door off, proceed with extreme caution as the plastic locking hooks are brittle and can break off with significant force.

Why remove the hatch cover?

It is wise to familiarize yourself with the door’s structure and fastening mechanisms before beginning any repairs. Generally speaking, every washing machine manufacturer uses the same design. However, every model has unique characteristics that need to be considered when working on any project. Before disassembling, make sure you examine the electrical circuit and attempt to identify the type of malfunction. There are sufficient justifications for changing the door or any of its parts:

  • broken glass;
  • non-working or jamming latch;
  • sagging hinges;
  • breakage of the support on the hinge.

Apart from glass, locks, and hinges, the UBL may also malfunction. The hatch locking mechanism, which is situated independently on the washing machine body, is crucial to the drum’s closure. Let’s now examine each malfunction and the corresponding repair in greater detail.

We look at the locking device

The UBL malfunction can be inferred from a number of revealing "symptoms". The primary one is that a corresponding error will be displayed by the machine. A door that does not lock when closed or does not open at the end of the cycle is another sign that there is a problem with the electronic lock.

You must take the UBL out of its case in order to remove it and examine its functionality. However, before you do anything, get ready a few tools: a multimeter, a double wire, and a flat and Phillips screwdriver. The latter ought to have a plug for connecting to a 220-volt outlet on one side and terminals on the other.

We now remove the UBL from its seat by using the washing machine’s top cover. It is advisable to avoid touching the hatch cuff even though you have the option to remove the device through the drum.

  1. Disconnect the washing machine from the power supply and water supply.
  2. We disconnect from the machine gun of the drain and bulk hose.
  3. We provide free access to technology, pushing from the wall 0.5-1 m.
  4. Weaken the bolts holding the body cover, and remove it.
  5. We find fastenings fixing ubble, which are located right behind the door lock, and unscrew them.
  6. We put our hand through the top to the ubble and, holding it with the other hand, disconnect from the supplied wiring.
  7. We take out the device.

We are then given the go-ahead for the ubble diagnosis. We take a multimeter and attach the probes to the "zero" and "phase," setting it up to measure resistance. Following that, we assess the outcome on the scoreboard. If a three-digit number is displayed, there are no blocking issues.

Now turn the ub to the "open" position with a thin screwdriver, and use the wire to connect the device to the outlet. There shouldn’t be any complaints regarding the blocker’s operability if the mechanism functionsed and the click was audible. Attaching the probes to the neutral and common contacts is not harmful. The indicator should read "0" when the component is functioning properly.

We repair the locking mechanism

The latch lever may have been distorted if the door does not close all the way. More specifically, anomalies show up on the component that keeps the hatch from locking into place. It is simple to resolve the issue:

  • remove the door according to the algorithm described above;
  • turn the hatch with the latch towards you;
  • take a file and grind down all the existing nicks and irregularities;
  • lubricate the surfaces with graphite grease for prevention;
  • we return the door to its place.

The hatch door requires very careful handling; don’t let kids "ride" on it or hang wet objects on it.

You must realign the door hinges if issues with closing the hatch are brought on by drooping hinges or loose fasteners. Here, however, everything is done by eye: the fasteners are tightened repeatedly until they completely fit into the grooves.

We eliminate the problem with glass

If the glass is cracked, broken, or shattered, you won’t be able to use the washing machine. You’ll need to replace it or tightly seal it in order to carry on washing. Regretfully, not every machine model is compatible with the replacement option. More often than not, the user needs to buy new equipment or seal the cracks. Fortunately, if you follow the directions, sealing glass cracks is not difficult.

  1. Use tape to glue a polyethylene film without cracks or voids on the outside.
  2. On the inside, fix a reinforcing tape to the damaged area.
  3. Prepare a solution of epoxy resin. Mix the resin and hardener until smooth in a ratio of 6 to 4 based on EDP glue. The consistency of the mixture should be like thin sour cream. If it turns out thicker, then heat it in a water bath, stirring occasionally.

As special sealants wash out and leak over time, it is preferable to seal the cracks with an epoxy resin solution.

  1. Fill all cracks and crevices with the resulting resin solution.
  2. Wait 24 hours.
  3. Remove the polyethylene and clean the unevenness on the glass.

When using a resin solution and hardener, it is crucial to pay attention to the duration and the proportion of ingredients. If not, the desired duration of protection won’t be achieved.

Step Instructions
1 Unplug the washing machine from the power source.
2 Open the door fully and locate the hinges on the side.
3 Use a screwdriver to remove the screws from the hinges.
4 Gently lift the door upwards to detach it from the hinges.
5 If there is a locking mechanism, press it to release the door.
6 Carefully pull the door away from the machine.

Using simple tools, you can easily remove the door from your washing machine. By taking the right precautions, you can prevent damaging the machine when performing maintenance, replacing a broken door, or installing a new seal.

Don’t forget to unplug the washing machine before beginning any tasks. By doing this, you can be sure that no unintentional electrical problems will arise. Additionally, label every screw and component you take out so you can quickly reassemble the door if necessary.

See the handbook for your washing machine or search online for a model-specific guide if you have any questions about any particular step. It will be an easy and stress-free process if you take your time and exercise caution.

Frequent upkeep, such as inspecting and cleaning the door seal, can help avert the need for future door removal. You can increase the longevity of your washing machine and make sure it continues to function properly for many years to come by maintaining it.
