How to lubricate the bearing of an Ariston washing machine

It may be time to check the bearings if your Ariston washing machine has ever made strange noises. Bearings are essential parts that facilitate the drum’s smooth rotation, but they can dry out or wear out with time. During the washing cycle, this frequently results in loud banging noises or even a grinding noise.

Your machine’s quiet, effective operation can be restored and the bearing’s life can be prolonged by lubricating it. Although it requires some hands-on work, you can do it yourself if you have the necessary equipment and a little patience. We’ll walk you through the process of lubricating the bearing in your Ariston washing machine correctly in this guide, allowing you to resume quiet and dependable laundry days.

Whether you’re an experienced do-it-yourselfer or a novice to home repairs, this post will simplify the procedure into manageable steps. Everything from the necessary tools to the proper application of the lubricant will be covered. You’ll feel accomplished and have a washing machine that runs smoothly at the end!

Step Instructions
1 Unplug the washing machine and move it to a clear, open area.
2 Remove the back panel of the washing machine to access the bearing.
3 Locate the bearing, usually near the drum.
4 Clean the bearing area thoroughly with a dry cloth.
5 Apply a small amount of bearing lubricant designed for washing machines.
6 Rotate the drum manually to evenly distribute the lubricant.
7 Reassemble the back panel and plug the machine back in.
8 Run a short cycle to ensure everything is working smoothly.

Maintaining the smooth operation and preventing expensive repairs of your Ariston washing machine requires lubricating the bearing. This post will walk you through the easy steps of applying lubricant correctly, which will ensure the longevity and performance of your machine. You can do this maintenance yourself and maintain the best possible condition for your washer by using the advice provided here.

What should be the ideal lubricant?

Opting for a high-quality product is crucial. There are various brands of lubricant for washing machine units, and each has unique properties. How ought the lubricant to be?

  • Moisture-resistant. This is a must. The seal protects the bearings and is in constant contact with water. There is no use in a lubricant that is easily washed out. The substance should remain on the sealing rubber even after liquid gets into the unit.
  • Heat-resistant. The lubricant should retain its properties at different temperatures. The substance should easily tolerate both contact with hot water and heating of the shaft during maximum rotation speed of the drum.
  • Non-aggressive. Since the substance is also applied to the seal, it should be “harmless” to the rubber, not deform the soft gasket.
  • Thick. This is important, since the substance should not leak out of the bearing unit during operation of the washing machine.

The idea to treat the washing machine’s parts with "Litol" or "VMPAUTO" products comes from certain craftsmen. Car lubricants can’t be used to fix the washing machine because they lack the right combination of qualities. Buying a specific composition for washing machine bearings is crucial.

Specialty stores and service centers sell lubricant for washing machine seals and bearings.

Additionally, you can order the composition online. Experts typically suggest the following goods:

  • A product from a world-famous company that is a leader in the development of lubricants. This substance meets all the requirements, it is moisture-resistant, very thick and resistant to temperature changes. It is produced in syringes (this form is more convenient for single use), as well as in 100 gram cans. Recommended by the manufacturer of Ariston washing machines;
  • Italian composition intended for processing the seal and bearings of washing machines. Produced by the MERLONI brand;
  • STABURAGS NBU 12. Another worthy option. The product is based on mineral oil and barium complex soap. It is waterproof and provides additional protection against corrosion;
  • LIQUI MOLY. Product from a German manufacturer. The lubricant is sold in 500 gram tubes and is used to repair washing machines of any brand;
  • Huskey Lube-O-Seal PTFE Grease. This product is also often used to treat bearings and oil seals. The composition meets all requirements.

It’s best to avoid saving money on grease. The material shields the bearing assembly. Rings and the oil seal will wear out much more quickly if the product is unable to perform its intended function. Additionally, sealing rubber and changing bearings are labor-intensive and costly repairs.

We remove the tank together with the drum

After deciding on a composition for bearing treatment, you can start working. It will require you to disassemble the "home assistant" almost entirely because the rings are concealed in the washing machine’s tank. The following will be the sequence of events:

  • de-energize the automatic machine by pulling the power cord out of the outlet;
  • turn off the stopcock, disconnect the washing machine from the water supply and sewerage system;
  • move the machine to the center of the room – you will need free access to all sides of the case;
  • remove the top panel of the washing machine (by unscrewing the two bolts at the back);
  • pull out the powder drawer;
  • unscrew the bolts holding the panel with buttons, disconnect the contacts and remove the "dashboard" (it is better to photograph the wiring diagrams so as not to make a mistake during reassembly);
  • dismantle the outer clamp of the drum cuff (to do this, you need to deal with its spring latch);
  • tuck the protruding edges of the rubber into the drum;
  • remove the lower false panel of the machine;
  • unscrew the drain filter of the washing machine;
  • disconnect the contacts from the hatch locking device;
  • remove the front wall of the case, removing all the screws that fix it;
  • disconnect the contacts from the heating element, pull out the heater;
  • disconnect all terminals and pipes from the tank;
  • unhook the water level sensor together with the wires and the fitting;
  • remove the drive belt;
  • remove the counterweights that will interfere with the removal of the tank;
  • having dealt with the shock absorbers, remove the tank from the washing machine housing;
  • place the unit on the floor, with the pulley facing up;
  • remove the washing machine engine by unscrewing the bolts that secure it.

You will need to take the Ariston automatic machine apart almost entirely in order to access the bearing assembly.

It is important to realize that the task will require more than an hour, particularly if you are not experienced in washing machine repair. The machine tank is used for additional operations. It will be necessary to divide the plastic container in half.

Although maintaining the bearing in your Ariston washing machine may seem difficult, it is doable with the appropriate strategy and a little perseverance. Frequent lubrication keeps the machine operating smoothly and can avert future, more serious problems. You can make sure that your washing machine runs smoothly and silently by following the instructions.

Always use the type of lubricant that is advised and use it sparingly. A little goes a long way because excessive lubrication can be more harmful than beneficial. Please refer to the user manual or get expert assistance if you have any questions or are having trouble with the process. Being cautious is always preferable to taking a chance on breaking your appliance.

By keeping your washing machine maintained, you can increase its lifespan and ensure uninterrupted laundry cycles. Your Ariston washing machine can provide you with good service for many years to come if you take good care of it. Have fun doing the laundry!
