Error E04 in the Candy washing machine

It can be annoying if the E04 error code appears on your Candy washing machine, especially if you’re in the middle of doing laundry. This error typically points to a particular problem that needs to be fixed in order to restore your computer’s functionality.

You can save time and money by knowing what causes the E04 error and how to fix it. With a few easy steps, you might be able to fix the issue yourself rather than rushing to call a technician.

This post will define the E04 error, go over its most typical causes, and show you how to fix it at home. Now let’s get going!

Possible Causes Solutions
Door not properly closed Ensure the door is fully shut and latched
Faulty door lock mechanism Check and replace the door lock if needed
Wiring issues Inspect and repair any damaged wires
Control board malfunction Contact a technician to check the control board

Manifestation and decoding of the code

Abruptly, Error E04 takes over: the machine appears "silent," even though the laundry is loaded, the program is chosen, and the wash is initiated. The machine will occasionally indicate a problem on the display before it even begins to fill with water, but more frequently than not, it will do so right away. Candy washing machines may also display different codes, such as "E4", "Err 4", or "Error 4."

The E4 error appears differently on a Candy washing machine without a display: blinking lights appear on the dashboard. The number of "flashes" is in line with the coding; the LEDs will illuminate four times, then turn off for ten seconds before blinking once more. Which indicators illuminate depends on the machine’s model.

  • Holiday and Aquamatic. With the E04 error code, the light opposite the "Cold water wash" program lights up, which is accompanied by an image of a snowflake.
  • Candy Grand. Machines of this model range give the E04 error by blinking the "Intensive wash" and "90" lights. The first indicator is schematically depicted by a shirt, and the second is on the left in the countdown time scale.
  • Smart. Here the situation is similar: the "Intensive wash" button (shirt icon) and "90" or "Start".

Depending on the Kandy model, error 4 can take many different forms, but a defining characteristic will always be the image of the number "4".

The meaning of Error 4 is straightforward: the washing machine’s water level sensor has identified an overfilled tank. We’ll think more about the causes of the excess liquid in the drum and what to check first.

What should be checked first?

Not all instances of error E04 point to a serious malfunction. It’s possible that the washing machine’s water level sensor picked up a small overflow. It is important to take into account the circumstances in which this signal code occurs.

  1. The sewer is clogged. When the machine is connected to the siphon, then when the latter is clogged, the previously drained liquid returns to the machine. Pressure drops occur, and the washing machine can collect water in excess of the norm even when turned off. To fix the problem, it is necessary to clean the pipes and start the drain program.
  2. The machine is not installed correctly. According to the instructions, the drain hose must be raised 60-100 cm from the floor, otherwise the waste water will not drain from the drum. The fact is that if the established norm is not observed, the so-called siphon effect occurs. To break the "chain", you will have to connect the machine in accordance with the manufacturer"s recommendations or install a special check valve.
  3. Excessive foaming. The maximum water level is exceeded and due to a large amount of foam in the drum. The latter happens if the powder dosage is exceeded, the wrong detergent is selected, or porous items, tulle, down jacket, wool are washed in the standard mode. Depending on the cause, a “treatment” is selected: reduce the powder portion, select another one, or turn on a delicate program for “fluffy” clothes.
  4. System failure. A one-time failure of the control board cannot be ruled out. Often, the module overheats, freezes, and accidentally displays an error code. It is worth turning off the machine for 15-20 minutes to reset the signal, and try to start the machine again. If the display is "clean", then there was no problem.

You must "dig" a little further if none of the aforementioned explanations describes what transpired. It is necessary to test the pressure switch and inspect the inlet valve. Doing it yourself is not hard at all. The instructions are all listed below.

The Candy washing machine error code E04 typically indicates a problem with the water heating process, which is frequently brought on by a malfunctioning temperature sensor, heating element, or wiring problems. You may save time and possibly prevent an expensive repair by troubleshooting and resolving this error by knowing what causes it.

Inlet valve

The washing machine’s inlet valve may malfunction at any time, in which case Error 4 will show up on the screen. As a result, it is advised that you begin checking with it. Anyone can complete the task if they adhere to this straightforward algorithm:

  • unscrew the screws holding the top cover and remove it;
  • find the valve near the inner wall at the junction with the inlet hose;
  • inspect the valve body for damage;
  • if there are no visible defects, then remove the device for manual diagnostics;
  • disconnect the pipes connected to the "box" by loosening the fixing clamps with pliers;
  • disconnect the wiring;
  • release the bolts holding the part and remove the valve.

Candy’s error code 4 might point to a problem with the washing machine’s inlet valve.

Once you have the valve in your hands, you need to examine its surface and the integrity of the attached hoses once more with great care. After that, we operate the device by lifting the box over the sink, attaching the filling hose, and turning on the water supply. A functional component won’t spill fluids. Repairing a leak won’t solve it; a full replacement is necessary.

Another method to check the valve is to put 220 volts on the part’s coil and watch what happens. Everything will be OK if the section opens and fills with water. If not, you will have to purchase a functional copy. However, exercise caution as it is imperative that water and electricity do not come into contact.

It is advisable to use a multimeter for a last, precautionary check. Applying the probes to each winding and turning on the tester in resistance mode is sufficient. The display should typically show readings of roughly 3 kOhm. If there are any deviations, substitute.

Water overflow problems are typically the cause of the E04 error message displayed on your Candy washing machine. A clogged filter, a broken inlet valve, or an inoperative pressure switch could be the source of this.

First, make sure the filter is clean and in working order. Examine the pressure switch and the inlet valve for any evidence of wear or damage if the error continues. Often, this can resolve the issue without requiring expert assistance.

Frequent maintenance will keep your washing machine operating smoothly and stop this error from happening again. Oftentimes, basic inspections and cleanings are sufficient to prevent more expensive repairs later on.
